  1. ubuntu rulez says:

Unlike in the version of Karmic, the nautilus-script “search in folder” in Lucid does not (!) search in the selected folder but always in /home/.

A workaround: open file “/home//.gnome2/nautilus-scripts/search in folder” (sorry I don’t know the correct english translation of the filename) and enter: gnome-search-tool –path=%M

The search does not start in the selected folder (like in Karmic), first you have to open (!) the folder an then run the script.

  2. ubuntu rulez says:

Sorry, this Blog acts a little bit strange.

The above mentioned path is: “/home/username/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts/search in folder”

The parameter is not –path=%M (!). The parameter needs two (!) minus characters, not only one – but this blog shows only one minus character.

  3. fukid says:

i just found a good addon for nautilus called “nautilus-actions” which allows action with for different filetype and it is much more powerful than nautilus-scripts. It should be a function in ubuntu-tweak to replace the nautilus-scripts.

    Reference:
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/add-custom-functionality-to-nautilus-linux/

  4. Fred says:

The ubuntu-tweak should have the option of configuring the boot. Only advanced users know how to easily configure grub.

Below is the mockup of the idea.

    I hope the idea pleases.

What about a Plymouth’s theme changer?
Nowadays it can be changed through shell.

Would be nice if this could be configurable through tweaks (as compiz settings)!! Maybe already a link to themes could be added?

    Thank you,
    By!

I agree with the 2 above comments

  7. Mike says:

For a long time in the forums people ask about the possibility to change the defaull position/alignment of the desktop icons, and no answers to this problem. It would be great if you can find the way to choose the default alignment: top right, bottom left, etc.
    Thank you.

Great little utility Ubuntu Tweak is!

Tweak is what I install first as soon as I finish installing Ubuntu on any machine.

A request: Can you integrate this little script mentioned in this blog entry:

    http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/09/how-to-restore-default-gnome-panels-in-ubuntu/

    Orignal script belongs to starryhope.

  9. Vishnu Rao says:

Adding to my previous post. Maybe you could add the above feature to the desktop recovery that you have in 0.5.6

Hi guys. First of all I want to appreciate the really big work you’ve done, it’s an amazing tool. But… I was thinking in the Debian version, something like Debian Tweak. Have thought on something like that? I’ll love to see the Debian version. Greetings to all!!!

    Hi,

Can you add this in a future release?

    http://www.webupd8.org/2010/11/alternative-to-200-lines-kernel-patch.html

Just incase Ubuntu decides not to add it in 11.04

    Thanks!

  15. Rhino says:

I noticed that many of the apps/games I’ve tried leave behind a /home/.appname folder. I suggest adding a .appname folder cleanup for apps/games that are no longer installed.

Would like options to remove and move options from system – shut down. I would like to hide suspend and hibernate options in a very easy way.

  18. Toxicbits says:

It would be really cool if there was “reset to defaults” button for every section.
I’d really like to see this in the next release :)

  19. Gass'z says:

    this work for LinuMint right,
Why not make a version for Debian or LinuxMintDebian using ‘stable’ or ‘testing’, this is possible helpful for user that migrated from Other-OS or Ubuntu LM to Debian or Debian-derivateds
you can use common option fro gnome-tweakin and debian-based repos like skype, opera, swiftfox, an for themes i imagine thah ubuntu themes packing in ubuntu-deb for themes and icons not need a change for why those are onli themes and don’t change ading lib or orthers thing that possible breaking the OS

  20. Patrick Harris says:

I just wanted to submit a bug in 0.5.10.

Startup / Login Settings / Play sound at login: Checked does not play sound and Un-checked plays sound.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

    • Patrick Harris says:

Umm, it actually goes deeper than what I explained. I thought I had it setup to not play a sound, but I was fooled. After re-booting it played the sound again when I logged in. So I went into Tweak again to disable it. Logged out and back in. Sound did not play. I think all is well until I load up my mp3 player and try to play music… no sound there either. I go to adjust my system volume and I get a message it is “Waiting for sound system to respond.” It never responds and I have to re-boot to get my sound system to operate again, and guess what? Logging in plays the sound again.

I would love to donate a small amount, but I live in Brazil, therefore I am Brazilian … But I’m having trouble getting this grant.
It would be possible to donate a sum of money with “https: / / pagseguro.uol.com.br /? rmcl psid = 1 #” or by bank transfer?

Congratulations on this great app, which is Ubuntu-Tweak. Always used and it is perfect.

  22. Yet anther user posting anonymous says:

I noticed, that Linux mint and many sdistros previously based on Ubuntu is moving to Debian
I suggest a limited (in apps, the themes no have problems) version for tweak debian-based distros, like LinuxMintDebian Gnome or XFCE or Fluxbox

  23. JFS says:

Why not…make independent of the desktop (LXDE, Gnome-shell, Unity, Unity-2d, KDE, XFCE, Windows manager standaralone) the tweak usable, mani option are common in all desktops, why not, tihs make a geater the universe of urers than can use U-T for tweaking and no more gnome/Unity/Gnome-shell only user…

  24. DRAGNUCS says:

I suggest you to integrate developpement of gnome-controle panel and integrate all those good stuff into it.

  25. pinkz.online says:

    thank you!!!
it sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you
    I fully understand your decision

But please support other Ubuntu derivatives..
You can Break it in two parts
Ubuntu tweak 6.xx( Only for Ubuntu 11.04 & Unity/GNOME) & Ubuntu tweak classic 6.xx(For Ubuntu derivatives using diff DE & w/o all Ubuntu dependencies like compiz etc)
Where 6.xx get updated often(or testing) & classic one very two-or three months..
    or
Why not…make independent of the desktop (LXDE, Gnome-shell, Unity, Unity-2d, KDE, XFCE, Windows manager standaralone) the tweak usable
Please UT has become a part of our lives(especially Source Center) & please give a fraction of time to it please

    Please

I wold be happy to see an option to save password in ubuntu-tweak settings and DON’T ENTER IT EVERY SECOND while instralling packages or adding repositories etc.!!!

  27. AllGamer says:

Just added “Mediainfo Official PPA” to the source repository

hoping to see it available ASAP in Ubuntu-Tweak to make installs easier across several machines

  28. AllGamer says:

    Suggestion!

In the source addition page, there should be an option to enter sources as

    deb http://download.webmin.com/download/repository sarge contrib
    deb http://webmin.mirror.somersettechsolutions.co.uk/repository sarge contrib

plus upload or copy and paste the key file like jcameron-key.asc

was trying to add Webmin ( http://www.webmin.com/deb.html ) to the source page, but it’s not accepting it

  29. yanski says:

    Suggestion…
Could you please change Ubuntu Tweak so it stops pulling in Compiz..??
Compiz does not play well with my system nor a lot of other peoples too.
I do not want to use Compiz but I do want to use Ubuntu Tweak.
    Thanks.

  30. twogunmickey says:

Really love Ubuntu Tweak, but I’m missing it on Debian. I hope to see it a Debian Tweak before to long. Thank you for such a wonderful tool!

  31. George Furtado says:

Love ubuntu tweak …..with all the changes regarding Unity, why not develop a version of tweak for Debian????

It would be really useful and make life soooo much simpler.

Thanks again for a great product.
