Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.9: urgent update for single-sourceslist users

If you haven’t touched any setting about “Separated Sources”, you can just ignore this update.

In the last Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.8, I made a mistake. If you disabled the “Use Separated Sources” in the preferences in Ubuntu Tweak, all your Launchpad PPA sources may be “lost”(In fact, they’ve been moved to the separated file).

Because Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.8 has a feature which will convert the PPA source files to standard name, E.G. ubuntu-tweak-testing-source.list will be converted to ubuntu-tweak-testing-ppa-maverick.list.

I forgot to check the “Separated Sources” setting so that the PPA source in /etc/apt/sources.list will be converted too.

The bug report has been created: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-tweak/+bug/694741

Now I’ve fixed this bug in Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.9 and provided a script to merge these PPA sources back to your sources.list.

First update your Ubuntu Tweak to 0.5.9 (Download packages here or update from sources)

Then open your terminal, run this command:

sudo /usr/share/ubuntu-tweak/merge_sourceslist.py

Now your sources.list with be OK!

Sorry for the mistake! I will be more careful in the future.

BTW: I’ve updated the translations for Bengali, Finnish, French and Spanish. Thank all the translators!

  3. After reading this post, I got curious and wanted to see how Ubuntu Tweak compared to Ailurus. I must say that I’m not a happy camper. I selected an icons set in the application section. Did not want UTweak to look at the other stuff already installed on my system (they were all up to date), so I deselected stuff already on my machine…well you can guess the rest, it removed my apps. Arrrrg!. I re-installed them.
    Fix this stuff

  5. I’ve just updated it a while ago, so far everything is fine for the exception that the Login Settings are not working. I’m presented with this message:

    Distribution: Ubuntu 10.10 maverick
    Application: Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.9
    Desktop: gnome

    pixbuf = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file(path)
    GError: Failed to open file ‘/tmp/tmp1GJEtX’: Permission denied

    Other than that everything’s fine. Keep the good work!!!

  6. why I can’t install tweak on my 11.04? I just upgraded from 10.10, but neither ubuntu tweak 0.5.8 nor 0.5.9 can be installed on my computer. I disabled the nvidia driver. The software center said that python < 0.27.

  7. cleaner module error :(

  8. Hi.
    There is a little bug in the latest version.

    When u set Me Menu Setting : Do not display. – It’s normal, skype-like symbol dissapears together with name. But after restarting the system this user status icon is back in the game though no name is displayed.

    Thanks.

  9. I’m using ubuntu-tweak 0.5.6 because it comes with ultimate edition 2.8. When I first open it, the system asks if I want to enable updates which I say yes. Well, when I do an update after, this is the error message that I get;

    I still get the same error message. How do I undo the update & get my system back to the way it was before?
