Join in the Ubuntu Tweak Testing team!

First I’m sorry for the mistake, the previous version(0.4.5) has many bugs, especially the Clean Old Config can’t work.

I think much about how to decrease the Ubuntu Tweak’s bug when every release, so the Ubuntu Tweak Testing team comes out!

I’ve almost done the Ubuntu Tweak 0.4.6 with a lot of bugs fixed and other improvements. In order to make this version as stable as possible, so I’m not worried to release the version.

Today I create a “Ubuntu Tweak Testing Team” at launchpad.net. For anyone who is interested in the latest Ubuntu Tweak, I hope you can join in the team to help testing this application.

The team website is: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-tweak-testing

By default, this team will have a daily build repository, you can added the following sources to your apt sources.list.

First add the key:

sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com E260F5B0

And the sources:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-tweak-testing/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-tweak-testing/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

Ok,now update your system, the latest Ubuntu Tweak will be updated.

Join now! By your testing, Ubuntu Tweak will become better and usable!

I’ve been running Ubuntu Tweak on Linux Mint 7 (optimized for my Asus Eee PC 1000HD install) and Ubuntu Tweak 0.4.7.3 has been working great! The only oddity I’ve noticed is, when I used Ubuntu Tweak to get rid of Compiz, it didn’t totally wipe all remnants from Linux Mint 7. I had to use the Synaptic Package Manager to totally rid myself of Compiz. Other than that, it’s been working fine, although I haven’t tested EVERY package remover. Being a minimal (Netbook) install, most of the packages were already absent.

I’m thinking about adding a feature to your utility that would automatically optimize Ubuntu/Mint for the Eee PC with a click of the button via the Configuration Manager (GConf) – call it Ubuntu Tweak EeePC or whatever. If I ever get around to doing this, I’ll contact you.

Anyway, thanks for the great utility! I’ll keep testing it on my Mint system(s).
