Ubuntu Tweak 0.4.5 released!
February 14th, 2009 | by TualatriX |Well, after almost two months later, I’m proud to announce the release of Ubuntu Tweak 0.4.5.
Various improvements and new features have been applied to this version!
Clean the old config files easily
Do you often install and remove applications? If so, there must be a lot of useless config files stay at your disk. Please go to /etc and have a look.
Now Ubuntu Tweak’s Cleanner has been added a new feature: Clean Config.
After you remove a package, the package manager(apt-get) won’t remove the config files unless you specify the –purge option.
Let’s use Ubuntu Tweak to easily clean the old config files if you don’t need them.
See the screenshot below, I needn’t to say any more, just select what you exact don’t need, and press “Clear”.

Preferences of Ubuntu Tweak
As you know before, Ubuntu Tweak has the feature that check update automatically. But it is turned off in the rencetly release.
I think it will be better to give the user the choice. So, Preferences of Ubuntu Tweak comes.

Here, you can set the window, left bar’s size and the left bar’s color. If you don’t use the repository to update Ubuntu Tweak, you can enable the Check Update.
Your Ubuntu Tweak will always be yours!
Default Launch makes access the function qucikly
I don’t know what is the most common used function in Ubuntu Tweak. Let’s suppose “Cleaner”.
So everytime I launch Ubuntu Tweak to clean the system, I need to click the Application, after it expands, then click Cleaner, then I can start using Cleaner. It’s slow, isn’t it?
From now on, by setting the Default Launch for your most common used function. You will access the function directly by passing the Welcome page.

Signed for all PPA Sources
Launchpad PPA Sources is the major part of Ubuntu Tweak’s Third-Party Sources.
Now it is finally signed with keys! From now on, when you enable a PPA Source in Ubuntu Tweak, it will import the key at the same time. (You won’t notice the progress.)
If you’re old users, you can try by disable then enable one source to add the key.

Revert Panel logo
This is really a basic feature that I should implement this at first.
If you set the logo for your GNOME Panel, now you can click the revert to go back to the default logo.

Debug more easily
Ubuntu Tweak isn’t perfect so something may go wrong while running.
Now Ubuntu Tweak has the ability to catch the Error message, if you want to help me to debug, you can copy the Error message and report it to the opening website.
Let’s make Ubuntu Tweak better and bug-less.

OK, there’re still many other small improvements. Include fully support Greek, update some Third-Party sources and so on.
As you may see, Ubuntu Tweak added a “Donate” button. I hope if you like Ubuntu Tweak and want to do something for it, please consider donating for this project. So it will grow up faster.
Thank you!
Try now!
The source for Hardy and Intrepid is ready now(Gusy and old can use the Hardy version):
DO NOT Forget the import the key first:
sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com FE85409EEAB40ECCB65740816AF0E1940624A220
Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Source:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/ubuntu intrepid main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/ubuntu intrepid main
Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Source:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/ubuntu hardy main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/ubuntu hardy main
Or download it from here: downloads
Enjoy!

this problem exists in 0.4.5 version as in previous one: simply- module used to connect programms with certain types of files is useless! I tried connect mp3 files with audacious (not with totem)-without success.Still when i click any mp3 files opens totem not audacious.But ubuntu tweak presents correct connection (mp3 files with audacious). My system ubuntu 8.10.

Thanks for this new version of Ubuntu Tweak.
Using the Clean Confing it’s normal that after you select something to remove and click to clean, you will still have that items listed, or the wasn’t no clean of confing??

I’m not seeing how to reset the Main Menu icon. Also, if I use a third-party them (such as the Mac4Lin 1.0 RC themes) the icon doesn’t change, even on a restart. Am I missing something?

Me too!
I also get the same error if I try to unlock the Package Cleaner and the Source Editor.
The error message I get is:
“Could not authenticate
An unexpected error has occurred.”
I have no problem installing packages though.

@Steffen && Redg
This problem is still available in some system, I will take a deep look with it. Thank you!
@facet
It is OK with me that change from totem to andacious.
So I think it’s your system’s problem.
@Rocklee
这个在短时间内很难做到,因为最初Ubuntu Tweak就是为GNOME桌面准备的。不过还是谢谢你的意见。
@Raptor && RuBoy
You’re right. Sorry for my mistake. It’s bug.
I will release the bugfix version soon.
@BostonPeng
I will find out what’s the problem between Mac4Lin and Ubuntu Tweak, thank you!
