Ubuntu Tweak 0.3.1 released!

Hi. Just a week ago, I released Ubuntu Tweak 0.3.0, now it has been downloaded for over 10,000 times.

It had never been downloaded so much times in just a week, So I’m glad to see that more and more people using this application. I’ll make it as powerful as possibile.

Now I’m releasing the version 0.3.1 with bug fix. Also with a little improvement.

—-

I don’t know that how many people like to use deb package, and how many people like to use apt source.

The deb package user must can’t always follow the newest version of Ubuntu Tweak, because they should always notice the new version’s release, download and update by themselves.

So at Ubuntu Tweak 0.3.1, I’ve added a Check New Version function. When you’re using Ubuntu Tweak, it’ll check if there’s new version available automatically. If has, it’ll make a dialog for you like this:

The Check Version has another function, it’ll submit your distribution and locale to the server, so that I can know about the base information of users, to help me develop and translate this application.

And in the future, I may add some more feature through network interactive.

Although it is only a small improvement, it is a large step for me. I’ve never deal with threading in the past, now I’ve overcame some technical problems. This means in the future, I’ll have more work to do.

Other update

  • Rewrote the setup.py for other distributions.
  • Fixed the shell script of templates.
  • Fixed a translation string of Shortcuts.
  • Fixed the bug of Icon settings.

I tried 0.3 last night with my Xubuntu install and it repeatedly crashed when it was loading.

Does 0.3.1 fix this? If not, I may be able to help diagnose the problem.

Just updated to 0.3.1, what can I say? Your work is brilliant and by adding the check version feature, I can quickly see when a new version of ubuntu tweak is available.

    Outstanding..

    @Sivan:

Sorry. It can be only ran under GNOME desktop.
For a long time, it is only support GNOME.

then it would be great to add the used GNOME libraries as dependencies, so that Xubuntu, Goubuntu and Kubuntu can install them automatically

  15. Werner says:

installed 0.3.1.1 (xubuntu 8.04) and got crash immediately – no GUI. but fix in applications/system menu.

    overseas greets…

  16. Werner says:

…from Rel. 0.3.0 there is any message missing, to use only GNOME desktop to work properly – so I assume, it must work with Xubuntu too. am I right ???

lower release numbers, like 0.2.10, 0.2.4 … pop up a GNOME warning message

    …nice weekend

  17. Lee Jarratt says:

    @ Werner

I thought Xubuntu used the Xfce Desktop Environment? Maybe that’s why you are getting error messages? :P
