The answers to you!
January 11th, 2008 | by TualatriX |These days, there are so many comments about Ubuntu Tweak on this site. Some are about problems while running, and others are suggestions. I’m glad to see that, and I’ll go on trying my best.
I can’t make the answer one by one to you, so I wrote this post to answer. I hope you can find what you want to know:)
1.Your English isn’t perfect
Yes. As Rebrain said, my English is poor. So I use some translator, and recite word everyday.
I have the courage to build this English site, so I certainly will improve my English!
If there’s some mistake with my expression, I hope you can point out.
2. KDE Version please!
Sorry. Ubuntu Tweak is designed for Gnome only.
If I plan to write the KDE version, it will be totally rewrote. I need to use KDE, need to learn PyQt…
I develop Ubuntu Tweak in my spare time, so I’m not have the spare time to develop “Kubuntu Tweak”.
3. Why isn’t the Gnome Tweak?
foobar said if it is Gnome Tweak, more people could use it. Yes, I agree with you.
But I don’t have so many energy to make it out, there’s many difference between distrobutions’ gnome desktop environment. Another important reason is that I’m using Ubuntu for the my system.
Maybe it’s easy to port Ubuntu Tweak to Fedora Tweak, Suse Tweak, etc.
If you like, you can redistribute it for other distribution under GPL.
4. For Ubuntu 8.04 Version?
Mads Madsen said that Ubuntu Tweak worked well in 8.04 beta. I’ve never test it on 8.04, I plan to make a Ubuntu 8.04 version after that Ubuntu 8.04’s Beta release.
Now I’m focus on 7.10.
5.Bugs need to fix
Thanks to the people that post their error messages here. I’ve found the reason that caused the error. I think I’ll fix it and make a bug-fix release.
6. Tweaks consider to be added
Thanks to the people that give me the tips to tweak Ubuntu. Follows are the tweaks consider to be added, if I have the ability:
- Change the background color after you’ve logged in—–arkatis
- A short description on mouseover with each button—–MadsRH
- In the system information, it lists your hostname – would be nice if you could change it there too—–Vadim P
BTW: I may miss some messages posted by you, so if you have some important thing to tell me( such as translation of Ubuntu Tweak), Please e-mail me: tualatrix{ at } gmail.com

I have just started using Ubuntu 7.10. But I have observed peoples comments on others who tend to voice their concerns about someone´s English.
It´s one thing to do constructive criticism, like the errors or how to improve. But another to put down, and belittle someone. Belittling tends to come from ignorance (makes no difference if you are an English professor or not), a lack of tack, a lack of caring, immaturity, lack of diplomacy, lack of tolerance, so on.
I talk to people around the world, from different languages, they are learning English. Alright more then me, one tongue only. To me itś encouraging.
So keep on pressing. With practice you will master it.
I IM a Finnish man a lot, can´t barely speak English, But his written is very good.
